Relay Apparatus
The primary function of Relay Apparatus Technician is to perform the duties of both System Protection technicians and Substation Electricians in areas where widely dispersed substations do not sufficient workloads to justify autonomous system protection and substation electrician crews with commuting distance of a maintenance base. Thus Relay Apparatus Technician Apprentices must be prepared to work with the necessary expertise in system protection systems as well as substation apparatus. Consequently, Relay Apparatus Technician Apprentices will learn the technical skills of both.
