Energy & Automation Program Scholarships

Over $250k in BSC scholarships designated for Energy

Due to the high demand for manufacturing and energy industry employees, students enrolled in automation and energy programs at BSC are eligible to receive up to $5,000/academic per semester!  Every student should apply. 

Scholarships are not limited to financial need, and part-time and full-time students are eligible. 

The Priority Application deadline is Jan. 1.

All applications must include a transcript and ACT Score (if taken).  Applications can be submitted until Sept. 1. Applicants must be a citizen of the
United States of America, national, refugee alien or permanent resident alien at the time of application.

NSF AIM (STEM) Scholarship
The AIM (Accomplish Innovate Motivate) S-Stem Scholarship is a grant provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to Bismarck State College (BSC). This grant allows BSC to provide scholarships to students who are seeking a degree in manufacturing or energy and who can demonstrate an unmet financial need. 

 


Advancing Nuclear Science
The American Nuclear Society’s Kent W. Hamlin Memorial Scholarship is open to students participating in the BSC's Nuclear program, an approved U.S. nuclear power industry's Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP).  Up to two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded this year.

Al Golden Scholarship
The North Dakota Petroleum Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Al Golden Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year. This scholarship is open to students who are pursuing post-secondary education at a North Dakota college or university in geology, engineering, processing plant technology, science, technical skills or other careers related to the oil and gas industry. American Sugar Crystal Company Vocational Scholarship & Training Program
American Crystal Sugar Company is a great example of farmers and manufacturers working together to create the highest quality product enjoyed across the country and relied upon in consumers' favorites like sodas, candy bars and cereals.

American Crystal offers many different career options to explore, from technical roles overseeing manufacturing processes to administrative roles leading to factory teams or headquarters programs. The partnership with Bismarck State College helps prepare students for Boiler House Technician and Process Technician careers at our factories. Full scholarships, covering tuition, tools, books, and room/board costs, are awarded annually to students pursuing AAS degrees in Power Generation Technology and Process Technology.

Hess JET Positions
JET provides individuals the opportunity to job shadow, intern, and apprentice in oil and gas production careers. The program introduces them to professions that are crucial in our industry, inspires individuals to be problem solvers in their approach to work, and encourages the transfer of knowledge and skills between expert employees and the individual.

ND Association of General Contractors
The Associated General Contractors of North Dakota has scholarships available for High School Seniors.   These scholarships are for the 2024-2025 school year.  Programs eligible include Electric Power Technology, Engineering Technology, and Instrumentation and Control Technology. 
Application Deadline is April 24, 2024.

North Dakota Community Foundation
Kyle Binstock Memorial Scholarship application is available online for lineman students.

North Dakota Space Grant Consortium
The North Dakota Space Grant Consortium, a state-wide NASA-funded education and research grant, is awarding a scholarship this spring to STEM students at BSC. To qualify, students must have a 3.0+ GPA, be a U.S. Citizen, and majoring in a STEM field, including energy and automation programs.  

Students must register for a Submittable account to access the application (all NDSGC applications are through Submittable). This year’s application asks students to submit a letter of recommendation, a transcript, a resume, and an essay response to the following question: Describe both your academic and career goals. How will this scholarship help you achieve those goals?

SME Education Foundation
For more than 40 years, the SME has been a leader in supporting the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent. Our scholarship program awards millions of dollars to hundreds of graduating high school seniors and current college students pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering or related discipline.

The Foundation has awarded 18 million to over 5,000 future industry leaders since 2005 and awards nearly a million dollars in scholarships each year.

Scholarship applications are accepted annually from November 1 – February 1. By submitting one application, you will be considered for every scholarship for which you are eligible. Awards range from $2,500 – $20,000.

TC Energy
TC Energy scholarship is a convenient way to get financial support for school. Now, with 750+ scholarships available across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, students enrolled at BSC could receive a scholarship valued at up to $5,000.

Nuclear R.C. Scholarship
Bismarck State College provides this scholarship to encourage students to enter the nuclear generation, medical or research workforce. Underrepresented populations such as women, minorities and students with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.


American Water Works Association AWWA Scholarship
Awarding $500 for Water Operator training and education. Each recipient will receive a one-year AWWA Operator membership.

North Dakota Rural Water Systems Association's (NDRWSA)
The North Dakota Rural Water Systems Association's (NDRWSA) scholarship program is open to Bismarck State College's Water & Wastewater Technology program students. The scholarship can be used toward tuition, books, room, and board. A selection committee evaluates applicants and selects the scholarship recipient based on academic performance, career goals, extracurricular activities, leadership, financial need, and an essay on a predetermined topic.

Water Cents Scholarship
The "Water Cents" program aims to fund a water scholarship for persons interested in getting an education in the water industry. The scholarship is open to any family member of a current NPRWD subscriber/customer is eligible to apply for the educational scholarship.
