Instrumentation
The Instrumentation Technician Apprenticeship Program prepares employees for journeyman troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair technicians for all plant instrumentation, controls and computer equipment.
The program begins by describing the safe operation and maintenance of sensors, transducers, controllers, and final control elements. Next, the employees learn the principles and practices governing many kinds of devices used to control pressure, temperature, flow, and level. Employees will learn the basis for proper use of analytical instrumentation devices that measure and control force, weight, and motion.
The program concludes by covering concepts of system control from basic controller and control loop PID operation through integrated systems, with emphasis on distributed control systems. In addition, the program discusses data transmission methods, including fiber optics, and describes safe ways of maintaining system quality. Employees will receive a journeyman license at the time of completion.
