Initiative Choice Ready Teacher Workshop

The Choice Ready charge across North Dakota’s P-12 schools aims to ensure that all high schoolers graduate choice-ready: ready for secondary education, the workforce, or the military.

In this three-day professional development workshop teachers, administrators, and school counselors will receive hands-on experience in some of the most needed career fields across North Dakota and participate in some deep-dive discussions. In our BSC classrooms and Advanced Technology Center, educators will see immediate application to their curriculum and district initiatives to help students be choice-ready upon graduation. Designing a robust implementation plan that brings curriculum and education initiatives to life with BSC pathways to industry will excite your students about real career opportunities.

Evening Impact Workshops

In this two-part program, teachers, administrators, and school counselors will examine two very complex, multifaceted, and somewhat controversial influences on today’s schools: school violence and legislation.

Agenda

June 24, 4:30 – 7:00 PM
Prepared and Protected: Strategies for School Safety and Self-Defense
School violence has created a critical need for safety preparedness in P-12 schools. This workshop addresses this by equipping educators with self-defense skills, incident analysis, and the development of practical school safety proposals, fostering confidence and informed action to create safer learning environments.

June 25, 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Legislative Impact Mixer: Bridging the Gap Between Policy and Practice
This workshop provides a structured forum for educators, legislators, and teacher preparation programs to discuss the complex interplay between legislation and education. Participants will analyze the pressures faced by educators and explore how legislation can effectively support schools, fostering a collaborative understanding of current challenges and potential solutions.

Teacher Credit

Participants can earn one additional teacher credit by registering for and attending the two evening sessions. Separate registration is required.
