What is included with the Microsoft Office 365 subscription license?
Microsoft 365 apps for PC (the latest Office applications for Windows)
Microsoft 365 apps for Mac (the latest Office applications for Macintosh)
Office for Android. Office apps are available through the Google Play store
Install and set up Office on an Android - Office Support (microsoft.com)
Office for iPad and iPhone. Office apps are available through the App store
Install and set up Office on an iPhone or iPad - Office Support (microsoft.com)
1 TB of cloud storage with OneDrive
How many machines/devices can I run this subscription on?
Each subscription license allows you to install Office on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets, and five smartphones.
Is this a full version of Office and available for offline use?
Yes, this is full Office on the PC, Mac, iPhone, and Android platform. The software has the same features and functions as other versions of Office and can be used offline.
How long can I keep my license for Microsoft Office 365?
Students enrolled for one or more credits at BSC (or at any other North Dakota University System institution) are eligible for the Microsoft 365 license. Students who graduate or are no longer enrolled for credit will lose their license. When the license expires, students retain read-only access to their Microsoft Office files.
Download and Install the latest version of Microsoft Office 365
Note: If you already have another version of Office, or a trial version, you should remove that before installing the version from the NDUS
Go to
Outlook on the web
or on the
BSC homepage
under the "Logins" dropdown on the top of the page choose "Email"
Log in using your @ndus.edu account and NDUS password, then Duo multi-factor authentication
Example: jane.doe@ndus.edu
On the "Welcome to Microsoft 365" page click the "Install and more" dropdown on the right side, then choose "Install Microsoft 365 apps"
On the "My account" page, under "Office apps & devices" select "Install Office". Run the downloaded executable file to start the installation.
After the installation, when launching an Office app it will prompt you to sign in. Use the same NDUS login credentials as your student email account to activate Office.
To Deactivate an Office install on a computer you no longer use, which will free up a license that can be used on another device:
Go to
Outlook on the web
Log in using your @ndus.edu account and password, then Duo multi-factor authentication
On the "Welcome to Microsoft 365" page click the "Install and more" dropdown on the right side, then choose "Install Microsoft 365 apps"
In the menu on the left, select “Apps & devices”
Under the “Office” section, click the down arrow next to "DEVICES". You will see the Office installs you currently have active. Click "Sign out" next to any you are no longer using.
