On Friday, July 1, 2022, BSC received an anonymous threat regarding our campus. Bismarck PD was dispatched and worked with BSC Campus Police to initiate our emergency response protocols. BSC received an ALL-CLEAR notification that the campus is safe and secure. Employees do not need to return to campus and should continue to monitor their email for additional communications. Classes are canceled, all offices and student services are closed for the rest of the day. Students living on campus can return to their residence halls effective immediately. All students and employees were sent an email with the resources available to them for assistance and services following the incident.
11.2.2022
On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the Bismarck State College Police Department received a report at 7:45 a.m. of suspicious activity occurring at 1255 Schafer St. (BSC Foundation House). The report indicated that an unknown middle-aged white male wearing a UND stocking cap may have attempted to gain entry into the building. The individual remained at the front door for several minutes while attempting to look in the windows. BSC Campus Police arrived and individual was gone on arrival.
The BSC Police can't stress enough the importance of reporting suspicious behavior as soon as it is safe to do so. Some common examples of suspicious activity may include:
- Unusual noises, including screaming, sounds of fighting, and breaking glass
- People in or around buildings or areas who do not appear to be conducting legitimate business
- Vehicles driving slowly and aimlessly through neighborhoods, around schools or parking lots
- People peering into parked vehicles that are not their own
- People who change their behavior when they notice they have been seen
- People dressed inappropriately for the weather or occasion, (i.e., heavy coat in warm weather)
At times, people are reluctant to call 911 about behavior that they feel is suspicious because they believe their call will be a burden or unnecessarily tie up police resources. By reporting suspicious activity immediately, you can help police prevent or interrupt crime.
