As part of this month’s ArtsQuest line-up, Bismarck State College (BSC) is proud to bring poet Dr. David Solheim to campus for a poetry reading event. Solheim will present selections from his latest book of poetry, "Seasoned,” on Monday, April 15, at 6 p.m.

Solheim, a 1965 graduate of Bismarck High School, is excited to return to his hometown to share his poetry with family, friends and the greater Bismarck-Mandan community. His book, "Seasoned," captures the essence of everyday life through the lens of Solheim's insightful poetry. Reflecting on personal experiences ranging from casual encounters to profound realizations, his work offers a glimpse into the evolving seasons of existence, spanning over seven decades.

Solheim, honored as the North Dakota Statehood Centennial Poet in 1989, boasts an illustrious career in literature. With contributions to numerous publications and anthologies, his literary skill shines through in his previous publications. As an English Professor Emeritus of Dickinson State University, Solheim dedicated decades to nurturing literary talent and enriching minds.

This ArtsQuest at BSC event will be held in the Basin Auditorium located inside the BSC National Energy Center of Excellence. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

Each year, the BSC Fine Arts and Humanities Department and the Language, Literature, and Mass Communication Department collaborate with other groups across campus to present ArtsQuest at BSC, an extended month-long campus celebration of music, art, theater, literature, and film. ArtsQuest highlights the talent of BSC students and brings performances and presentations by guest artists to campus. Throughout the event, attendees have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic expressions, from captivating performances to thought-provoking presentations. Unless otherwise noted, all events in this enriching cultural experience are free and open to the public. For a complete listing of events, event descriptions and details, visit bismarckstate.edu/artsquest.
