The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the Bismarck-Mandan area through Thursday, Nov. 10. Heavy snow and blizzard conditions are expected with 10-16 inches of snow accumulations and winds gusting up to 50 mph.

Due to the impact of the anticipated storm and our concern for our BSC community’s safety, BSC is taking the following precautions and giving the following guidance:

  1. The Bismarck State College campus will close Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. and remain closed through Thursday, Nov. 10. All classes and events will be canceled during this time period. Only designated emergency personnel should report for work.

  1. As scheduled, BSC will be closed and no classes or events will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, in observation of Veteran’s Day. Classes will resume at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14.

  1. At this time, it is anticipated that it could take campus maintenance crews multiple days to clear the campus of the large amounts of snow and wind. For your safety and that of essential campus workers, if you do not need to be on campus, please don’t be. All students are encouraged to make decisions that are in their best interest and pre-plan accordingly for safe travel, food, medicine and clothing needs.

  1. BSC residence halls will remain open. Any student who will be staying in a BSC residence hall at any time from Wednesday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Nov. 13, should communicate this to Student & Residence Life at bsc.housing@bismarckstate.edu if you haven’t already done so.

  1. BSC Mystic Marketplace will be open on Wednesday, Nov. 9, until 7 p.m. Students staying in residence halls should contact their RA for box meals on Thursday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov. 11. Mystic Marketplace will resume regular hours on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13.
Please refer to the contact list below if you have questions regarding this campus closure.
