Bismarck State College (BSC) has received a Technical Skills Training Grant from the North Dakota Department of Commerce to provide full scholarships to more than 20 students enrolling in BSC’s new Qualified Dental Assistant (QDA) program. Registration is now open for the program designed to meet the growing demand for dental professionals in North Dakota.

The $44,000 grant enables BSC to support students pursuing careers in dental assisting by covering tuition and related costs while helping address workforce needs across the state. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply soon, as scholarship funds are limited.

This self-paced QDA program includes 144 hours of online coursework and 300 hours of in-person clinical training through an externship at an approved dental office. The flexible structure allows students to begin the program at any time and move through the curriculum at their own pace, making it an accessible option for working adults or those balancing other responsibilities.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, students will be fully prepared to assist licensed dental professionals and provide high-quality patient care. Graduates will receive a BSC certificate of completion, signifying they have completed a North Dakota Board of Dental Examiners (NDBDE) board-approved equivalent course. This certificate should be submitted to the NDBDE when applying for licensure as a QDA in the state of North Dakota.
