Because of their exceptionally high scores on Microsoft Office Specialist exams, five Bismarck State College students have been named North Dakota Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) champions and have qualified to compete in the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in Dallas, Texas, June 20-22, 2022.
Two BSC Dual Credit students from Mandan High School, Andaleen (Andi) Nelson and Ashley Stelter, will attend and compete in the championship event. Nelson earned the distinction in PowerPoint 2019 and Stelter in Word 2019. Dual Credit student Sean Pietrowski, from Hebron High School, qualified in Word 2019. BSC Administrative Assistant major Shadlynn Severance and Cybersecurity and Computer Networks major Yerouel Zamba both qualified in Excel 2019.
The Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship presented by Certiport, Inc., is a national competition that tests students' skills on Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Scholarships are awarded to first, second and third place winners. The winner of the national competition will receive a $3,000 scholarship, trophy, certificate and an invitation to compete at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.
This is the fourth consecutive year that students in the BSC Administrative Assistant, Cybersecurity and Dual Credit programs have been named North Dakota MOS Champions.
