CyberCon 2021, a critical infrastructure and cyber security conference will be held October 5-6 at the National Energy Center of Excellence at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, N.D. The conference will feature opportunities for participants to attend in person or virtually.

“2020 was a challenging year for everyone, and CyberCon was no different,” says Darin Hanson, 2021 conference chair and ND Dept of Emergency Services Critical Infrastructure Program & Security Manager. “Last year we were only able to meet virtually, which is why we are so excited to bring cybersecurity and critical infrastructure specialists back together at the National Energy Center of Excellence, while still providing opportunities for virtual participation.”

This year’s speakers bring deep expertise and national reputations for excellence. Opening keynote speaker on Tuesday, Oct. 5 is John Strand of Black Hills Information Security. Strand has consulted and taught hundreds of organizations about security, regulatory compliance, and penetration testing, and is a contributor to the industry shaping Penetration Testing Execution Standard and 20 Critical Controls frameworks. Closing keynote speaker on Wednesday, Oct. 6 is Regina Phelps, founder of Emergency Management & Safety Solutions (EMS Solutions), a consulting company specializing in crisis management and business continuity planning. Phelps is an internationally recognized expert in the field of crisis management, exercise design and business continuity and pandemic planning.

Educational break-out sessions led by a diverse set of local, regional and national experts will round out the two-day event.
