Dear BSC students,

As we near the end of the Spring semester, I want to first thank you for all you have done to make this past year a success. Despite COVID-19 and all the challenges it created, you've moved forward, achieved your goals, and made it through this year successfully. We are so grateful to each of you for doing your part to ensure that our campus community was safe with minimal COVID infections and the ability to hold in-person classes and keep this campus open.

With the success of the state’s vaccination rollout, and BSC’s low infection rates, we expect to welcome you back in the Fall of 2021 without the COVID restrictions that have been in place since March 2020. As long as it is safe to do so, our intent is to be mask free and fully operational in every sense of the word for the Fall 2021 semester.

This summer, BSC will begin the transition from our current risk and mitigation level. We will be closely monitoring the recommendations from the North Dakota Department of Health and the CDC to ensure that we transition without putting the health of our campus community at risk. As we are able to relax our COVID-19 precautions, we will communicate those changes with you.

I ask that you continue to practice good hand hygiene, stay home if you do not feel well, get tested for COVID as needed, and consider getting vaccinated. I also ask that you respect differing COVID-19 requirements in our communities regarding masks, as well as the individuals who choose to take extra precautions.

I am very optimistic that Fall will return us to normal operations in which friends, family and this campus community can operate safely and freely. We are all looking forward to cheering on our Mystic athletes in person, gathering to listen to our student musicians, attending plays, visiting friends and family, spending time collaborating in classrooms and mingling in the Mystic Marketplace.

Enjoy the summer. Stay well and know that we look forward to having you with us at BSC this Fall.

Thanks,

Douglas Jensen, BSC President
