Karen Erickson - BSC Flex Start classes begin Oct. 19

Starting Oct. 19, Bismarck State College will begin offering Flex Start classes. These general ed classes can help students earn credits toward a BSC degree or to transfer to a four-year school. BSC Dean of Enrollment Management Karen Erickson talks about the benefits of enrolling in these classes that run Oct. 19-Dec. 14. Dr. Douglas Jensen – The new kid on campus

On July 1, 2020 Dr. Douglas Jensen became the 7th president of Bismarck State College. Dr. Jensen came to BSC from Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois where he had been president since 2016. The day of this interview marked his 21st day in office at BSC, and he took 19 minutes and 39 seconds to share a little insight into himself and his vision for Bismarck State College.
Deb Sandness – Business as usual during a pandemic?

On March 23, 2020, Bismarck State College officially because a virtual campus due to COVID-19, meaning the campus was closed to the public. While essential services were still being provided to BSC students who needed to remain on campus, the campus was technically closed until June 15. The BSC Mystic Marketplace and Mystic Java were two of the essential services that remained opened to provide meals for students still living on campus, and the BSC Bookstore transitioned to an online store. BSC Mass Communications intern Travis Askerooth sits down with BSC Bookstore & Food Services Manager to talk about business during a pandemic and what students have to look forward when they are welcomed back to campus this fall.
Dr. Larry C. Skogen – A look back on 13 years at Bismarck State College

Dr. Larry C. Skogen, Bismarck State College President Emeritus, officially began his retirement on July 1, 2020. A Hettinger, N.D., native and career U.S. Air Force officer, Skogen became the sixth president of Bismarck State College on March 1, 2007. In his last week at BSC he took a break from packing up his office to reflect on his tenure as president of the third largest college in North Dakota.
