Bismarck State College’s Bringing Humanities to Life and Marine Corps League Detachment 1419 Mandan will host George Luz Jr., son of Easy Company George Luz, on Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Luz Jr. will share stories and memories of his father and the famed Easy Company.

Easy Company is a well-known company of the United States Army, the 2nd Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the 101st Airborne Division. The Easy Company was formed in 1942 during World War II and is the basis of the book titled “Band of Brothers” by Stephen Ambrose and the HBO miniseries by the same name.

Luz was known as one of the funniest members and a pillar of the company. At 20, Luz enlisted in the army following the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Luz’s good humor helped to get company members through training and battles.

This event, held in the BSC National Energy Center of Excellence Bavendick Stateroom, is free and open to the public.
