BSC professor named National Post-secondary Business Teacher of the Year

Bismarck State College (BSC) Professor of Computers & Office Technology Dr. Lynette Borjeson Painter was recently named the National Business Education Association (NBEA) Post-Secondary Business Teacher of the Year for her contributions to business education. The NBEA annual conference, scheduled to be held in Boston, Mass., was held virtually April 7-11, 2020.

Borjeson Painter also co-presented at the NBEA conference with Dr. Karen Arlien, BSC professor of computer science, on coding without computers.

The NBEA is the nation's leading professional organization devoted exclusively to serving individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, research, and dissemination of information for and about business. The NBEA Post-Secondary Business Teacher of the Year award recognizes outstanding contributions to business education by a post-secondary business teacher (other than a senior college or university teacher).  

Borjeson Painter teaches computer and web development courses at BSC using online, hybrid, blended and traditional formats. She was awarded the regional Mountain-Plains Business Education Association (M-PBEA) Outstanding Post-Secondary Business Teacher of the Year in 2009 and received the North Dakota Association of Career and Technical Education (NDACTE) Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year award in August 2019.

Borjeson Painter is a two-time North Dakota Business Education Association (NDBEA) president, currently serves as the North Dakota M-PBEA membership director and was co-coordinator of the 2017 M­-PBEA conference. Borjeson Painter is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Bismarck-Mandan, serves as co-advisor for the BSC FBLA-PBL chapter and will serve her second year as BSC Faculty Senate President in 2020-2021.
