Bismarck State College (BSC) will hold a kick-off event for the BSC Office of Workforce and Economic Development and Grand Energy on Thursday, August 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. Industry professionals are invited to come learn how the BSC Office of Workforce and Economic Development can help them address their workforce needs.

Earlier this year, BSC created the Office of Workforce and Economic Development to address the acute workforce shortages in industries critical to North Dakota's success.

“Through our Office of Workforce and Economic Development, BSC is well-positioned to provide innovative skilled workforce solutions for the state's workforce challenges in energy, healthcare, cyber defense, agriculture, manufacturing and automation by taking an entrepreneurial approach to delivering innovative workforce-relevant training,” says Dr. John Carroll, BSC Vice President for Strategic Initiatives.

An example of this is Grand Energy, the first BSC Office of Workforce and Economic Development initiative, which serves North Dakota’s energy ecosystem by providing workforce solutions tailored to the sector’s current and future needs. Grand Energy is designed to deliver programs and pathways that link talent with opportunity to accelerate the energy sector’s workforce development and create a pipeline of mechanics and technicians.

The BSC Office of Workforce and Economic Development and Grand Energy launch will be held in the BSC National Energy Center of Excellence, Basin Electric Auditorium, 1200 Schafer St., in Bismarck. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP for the event at bismarckstate.edu/OWEDLaunch by Friday, July 26, 2024.
