Bismarck State College (BSC) Continuing Education and TrainND will host the Energy Progress & Innovation Conference (EPIC), Jan. 24-26, at the Bismarck Event Center. This year’s conference, formerly known as the Energy Generation Conference (EGC), features 200 exhibit booths representing 35 states as well as industry speakers, professional development sessions and networking opportunities.

EPIC, which is celebrating its 44th year in 2023, has been working to meet with energy companies and new leadership at facilities to establish, strengthen and renew relationships since the start of the conference. This year the committee is bringing back the popular ice cream socials and has added a new casino night social to provide ample time for networking, with a side of fun.

Pre-conference sessions will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24, and will include “Environmental Justice and Environmental Social Governance,” “Changes to the 2023 National Electrical Code,” “Leading Change with a Positive Accountability Culture” and more. The Exhibitor Showcase Social is scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and is open to the public at no cost.

Keynote speaker Alex Epstein, founder of the Center for Industrial Progress (CIP), will kick start each morning on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 26. Epstein, a philosopher who argues that “human flourishing” should be the guiding principle of industrial and environmental progress, founded the CIP in 2011 to offer a positive, pro-human alternative to the Green movement. He is the author of “The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels,” a book widely praised as the most persuasive argument ever made for our continuing the use of fossil fuels.

The closing session on Thursday features speaker Mark Johnson, the “Master of Motivation.” Johnson spent 20 years as a Special Forces, Green Beret officer in over 50 nations on four continents, much of this time in combat, remote locations and other sensitive operations. He has devoted much of his life to education and teaching and speaks with passion of overcoming adversity and survival.

Educational and professional development sessions will be held throughout the conference, and all sessions are included in the registration fee of $150 per day or $250 for both days until Jan. 24. For more information, the conference agenda or to register, visit ndepic.com or call the BSC Continuing Education department at 701-224-5600.
