Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at BSC (OLLI@BSC) has received a $1 million endowment, funded by the Bernard Osher Foundation, to provide adults an intellectual connection to the college by offering non-credit humanities classes, learning opportunities and events that build a sense of community and camaraderie.

To receive the endowment, BSC must achieve and maintain a yearly goal of 500 members. OLLI@BSC ended the 2021-2022 membership year with 525 members, meeting the requirement and making the program eligible for the endowment.

The funds from the endowment will be used to maintain OLLI@BSC programming and provide free events and low-cost classes for its members. BSC also has plans to expand offerings and develop new community partnerships that will provide additional benefits to their OLLI members.

Each year, OLLI@BSC offers classes, events, travel opportunities, socials and other activities. Adults who want to continue their learning in a variety of areas can take classes, with the benefit of no tests or grades, from OLLI faculty who are experts in their fields and bring a broad range of life experiences and knowledge to enrich class topics and discussions.

In addition to classes and building community, an OLLI@BSC membership includes many special perks on the BSC campus and in the local community including discounts at Touchmark Health and Fitness Club, Bismarck Mandan Symphony, BSC Theater, Dakota Zoo, BSC Bookstore and BSC Mystic Java.

OLLI@BSC is one of 125 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes across the United States funded by the Bernard Osher Foundation which seeks to improve quality of life through support for higher education and the arts and supports a national lifelong learning network for adults.
