The Bismarck State College Embracing Diversity Committee will host a Core Ensemble performance of “Tres Vidas,” a show highlighting Latin American women, on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Sidney J. Lee Auditorium. The show is free and open to the public.

“Tres Vidas” is a chamber musical theater work that includes introductions and vignettes from the lives of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, Salvadoran peasant activist Rufina Amaya and Argentinean poet Alfonsina Storni. “Tres Vidas” will feature the vocal performance of Jenyvette Vega with an instrumental trio of cello, piano and percussion.

The show includes popular music and folk songs from Mexico, El Salvador and Argentina as well as original text by Marjorie Agosin and music by Astor Piazzollo, Carlos Gardel and Osvaldo Golijov.

A question-and-answer period with the performers will conclude the performance.

The Core Ensemble has produced and performed new musical theater works in all fifty states, with a goal of promoting intercultural understanding and education through artistic interpretation.

The BSC Embracing Diversity Committee is dedicated to providing opportunities for students and employees to understand and appreciate diversity in the community and world. The Committee offers diversity-awareness events and programs on the BSC campus and beyond.
