Bismarck State College (BSC) will confer more than 1100 degrees to nearly 1000 graduates during its 82nd BSC Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 13 at 2 p.m. (CST) at the Bismarck Event Center. Graduates include those who complete their course of instruction during the 2021-2022 academic year. The ceremony will also recognize 2020 and 2021 BSC graduates who have chosen to walk across the stage to be recognized as those classes didn’t have in-person ceremonies due to the pandemic.

This year’s commencement speaker is Major General Alan S. Dohrmann, The Adjutant General (TAG) for the North Dakota National Guard. Major General Dohrmann assumed his duties in December 2015 and commands more than 4,100 North Dakota soldiers and airmen and supervises approximately 1,325 full-time federal and state employees. He also serves as the Director of Emergency Services, which includes the Division of Homeland Security and the Division of State Radio Communications.

Graduate Abrielle Schantz of Beulah, N.D., will be the student speaker. Schantz is graduating from BSC with an Associate in Applied Science degree in nursing and plans to continue her education to pursue her bachelor’s degree.

The ceremony will stream live at bismarckstate.edu/livestream. A recording of the ceremony will be available online at bismarckstate.edu/commencement after May 20 and a recorded broadcast of the ceremony will air on Dakota Media Access, Cable Channel 12 or Channel 612 HD.
