Bismarck State College will hold a free informational session Wednesday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (MDT), for those interested in learning more about a Practical Nursing certificate offered in partnership with the Dakota Nursing Program and West River Health Services, proposed to begin Fall 2019 in Hettinger, N.D.

The session, held at West River Health Services, 1000 Highway 12, Hettinger, will provide details about an opportunity to earn a nursing degree without having to leave your community for your education. Courses are delivered in a combination of face-to-face labs and clinical courses with the theory courses delivered over Interactive Video Network (IVN).

“With this kind of partnership with a hospital, one can take the classes at the hospital, and then they do their clinicals at that hospital, and then many of them stay and get jobs at that hospital,” said BSC President Larry C. Skogen.

The informational session is open to anyone interested in becoming a nurse. Good candidates might include those interested in pursuing a nursing degree right out of high school, current CNAs looking to move up, those who began their nursing education but haven't finished or those looking to make a career change into the healthcare field.

The informational session will cover the program logistics and application requirements as well as personal advising. For more information contact Annie Paulson at 701-224-2468 or andrea.l.paulson@bismarckstate.edu.
