The 40th annual Energy Generation Conference (EGC) runs Jan. 29-31 filling the Bismarck Event Center Exhibit Hall with an expanded exhibitor showcase and training for more than 2,000 energy workers from across the United States and Canada.

One of the premier energy industry conferences in North America, the EGC offers professional development in all areas of energy production from engineering and environment to safety and support services.

Coordinated by Bismarck State College Continuing Education and TrainND, the conference begins with pre-conference training all day Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Bismarck Event Center Exhibit Hall. The Exhibitor Showcase, the only event open to the public, runs 4:30 to 6 p.m. and features more than 300 vendors.

Full-day workshops will be held on Jan. 29 with topics ranging from “Artificial Intelligence and IoT for Power Plant Condition Monitoring Workshop” to “NEC Challenge and Review” which is approved for continuing credit hours for electricians in ND and MN.

On Wednesday and Thursday Jan. 29 and 31, Ty Howard  will present “Untie the Knots: Improving Habits, Choices, People, Relationships, Performance and Results.” This presentation is aimed at helping all individuals within an organization dissolve the toxic knots to make changes and overcome obstacles found inside most organizations today.

Also on Wednesday and Thursday, concurrent information sessions will be held for key areas such as engineering, electrical, emerging technology, environmental, instrumentation, mechanical, operations, safety, and professional development. Topics to be addressed include robotic inspection for industrial assets, coal-fired unit turndown, security in the electricity sub sector and working with generational differences.
