Scholarships awarded to incoming BSC freshman

Bismarck State College recently announced the recipients of the Chesak and Carley Family Scholarships for the 2017-18 school year.

Seven students were awarded the Chesak Family Scholarship to attend Bismarck State College. The scholarships are $1,000 each, with $500 awarded in the fall semester and $500 awarded in the spring semester.

To be eligible for the Chesak Family Scholarship students must be accepted for admission into one of the five following programs at BSC: Geographic Information Systems (A.A.S. degree), Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Maintenance Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician or Web Page Development (A.A.S. degree). Students must also be enrolled full time (12 or more credits), have maintained a high school or college grade point average of 2.50 cumulative or higher and be a new student to BSC.


Eight students were awarded the Carley Family Scholarship for the 20117-18 school year. Carley Family Scholarships are $2,000 each, with $1,000 awarded in the fall semester and $1,000 awarded in the spring semester.

To be eligible for the Carley Family Scholarship a student must be a graduate of a Bismarck or Mandan high school, have earned an ACT score of 27 or higher, have maintained a high school grade point average of 3.50 cumulative or higher, have taken one dual credit course from BSC and have been accepted to BSC by April 15.
