Book Babble @ BSC invites the community to read and discuss the book “If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look on My Face?” by Alan Alda, as part of a Bringing Humanities to Life fellowship. Readers will gather Wednesday, June 19 at 10 a.m. in LEA Hall, Rm 204, on the BSC campus to discuss their findings and opinions.

In his book, Alda breaks down the importance of face-to-face interaction in communication. The award-winning actor and founder of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science traces his personal quest to communicate better and teach others to do the same – from practicing empathy and using improv games, to storytelling and developing better intuitive skills. With his trademark humor and candor, he explores how to develop empathy as the key factor.

The open discussion will last approximately one hour and will focus on the participants’ personal opinions of the material covered in the book as well as their own communication history and experiences. Refreshments will be served.

Books are available at local libraries and booksellers. The discussion is free and open to the public.
