Music faculty showcased in Sept. 10 recital

Bismarck State College music faculty will be joined on stage by guest artists, Dickinson State University music faculty, for the annual BSC Faculty Recital Sunday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m. in Sidney J. Lee Auditorium.
 
The joint recital showcases the faculty of BSC's four-year collaborative music program with DSU.
 
BSC soloists are vocalists Clyde Bauman and Dawn Hagerott and instrumentalists Dr. John Darling and Laura Prokopyk, with accompanists Nancy Darling and Michael Langer.
 
Performing from DSU are clarinetist Dr. Jeremy Wohletz, vocalist Kelsey Rogers and pianists Joel Walters and Dr. Brent Rogers.
 
Bauman opens the program performing “Abendempfindung” (Evening Sensations) KV 523 by W.A. Mozart. Wohletz follows with “Three Etudes on Themes of Gershwin” by Paul Harvey. Dr. Darling, alto saxophone, presents “Minuet from ‘L'Arlésienne Suite’” and Hagerott, soprano, sings “Der Erlkönig” by Franz Schubert.
 
Later in the concert Bauman performs “Si mes vers avaient des ailes” by Reynaldo Hahn and “Make Me Strong in Spirit” by Nancy Darling and Prokopyk, violin, presents “40% Swing” by John Adams and a selection by Bela Bartok. Kelsey Rogers, soprano, finishes out the faculty performances with “Sweeter than Roses” by Henry Purcell and “Jane Seymour” from “Try Me, Good King” by Libby Larsen.
 
The recital will conclude with a special appearance by Milo Hatzenbuhler.
 
A reception with refreshments follows the program. Admission is free.
