Native American Scholarship

Enrolled members of federally recognized Indian tribes may qualify for up to $2,000 annually in scholarship funding under this merit and need-based program. 

Eligibility and Qualifications
To be considered for an award, applicants must:
  • Be North Dakota residents and enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe;
  • Be enrolled full-time; and
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Scholarship Details
  • An annual application is required.
  • All application materials must be completed EACH YEAR by July 15th for priority consideration.  Completed applications include: 
    1. The annual NDUS application.
    2. Verification of tribal enrollment (CIB or tribal ID)
    3. Most recent transcript showing cumulative GPA (grade reports and class schedules are not accepted)
    4. Needs analysis form
    5. Certification of North Dakota residency
  • Merit-based scholarships may be awarded to students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
  • Need-based scholarships may be awarded to students with cumulative GPAs of 2.0-3.499. 
    1. The annual FAFSA application is required to determine unmet need.
    2. Please do not send FAFSA results with your application.
  • Eligibility is limited to no more than the equivalent of full-time funding for six academic years.
  • Funding is limited and awards will be made based on a priority awarding process.
  • Eligible programs include certificate, associate’s, bachelor’s, and graduate level.
