Studying economics helps students apply an analytical approach to thinking that will enhance future studies and endeavors. Students learn to express data and information in many ways. Besides general education courses, the curriculum focuses on business law and accounting, statistics, and how micro- and macroeconomics principles function under economic structures, policies and capital markets.

Description

Students will learn to express information in a variety of ways and develop critical thinking skills while processing the information. Studying economics helps students learn an analytical approach to thinking that will serve them in other courses of study and future endeavors. Besides general education courses, the curriculum focuses on business law and accounting, statistics, and how principles of micro- and macroeconomics function under various economic structures and policies.

Preparation

High school students should have taken courses in geometry and algebra. However, these courses are not mandatory for success.

Requirements

Students who complete the requirements earn an Associate in Arts degree.

Bismarck State College has many cooperative, articulation, or transfer agreements with postsecondary institutions both inside and outside of the North Dakota University System. Some of these agreements are established to allow students to remain on campus as they complete their bachelor’s degree. In all cases, students seeking to transfer after completing a degree at BSC should consult the academic catalog of their destination college and work with their academic advisor to plan for this transition.
