Prepare Your Study Space

A well-prepared study space can make a significant difference in your productivity and focus.

Traditional Dorm Room

For those living on campus, your dorm room will be your new home away from home. Make it a conducive study environment by keeping it organized and free from distractions. Invest in good lighting, a comfortable chair, and organizational tools like shelves and storage bins. Personalize your space with inspiring decor to make it inviting.

Adult or Online Learners

If you're an adult or online learner, your study space might be a corner of your living room or a dedicated home office. Ensure it’s quiet and free from interruptions. Equip your space with the necessary technology, such as a reliable computer and high-speed internet. Keep your study materials within reach and create a clutter-free environment to enhance concentration.

Moving onto Campus?

#MysticNation Move-in weekend is just around the corner, and whether you're a freshman or a returning student, preparing for this transition can be both exciting and a bit overwhelming. To help you make the most of your move-in experience, we've put together some essential tips and tricks to ensure a smooth and successful start in becoming a part of #MysticNation.

Tips for a Smooth Move-In

Plan Ahead: Make a checklist of all the items you'll need for your dorm room. Think about essentials like bedding, toiletries, and school supplies. Don't forget items that will make your space feel like home, such as photos, posters, and personal mementos.

Coordinate with Roommates: If you already know who your roommates will be, reach out to them before move-in day. Discuss who will bring shared items like a mini-fridge, microwave, or TV. This will help avoid duplicates and save space.

Label Your Boxes: Clearly label all your boxes with your name, dorm building, and room number. This will make the unloading process quicker and help prevent any mix-ups.

Pack a "First Night" Bag: Prepare a bag with essentials you'll need for your first night and day, such as toiletries, a change of clothes, and any important documents. This will save you from rummaging through boxes when you're tired from moving.

Arrive Early: Aim to arrive at your designated move-in time to avoid the rush. This will give you more time to settle in and attend mandatory meetings.

Stay Hydrated and Take Breaks: Moving can be exhausting, especially in the August heat. Keep water and snacks on hand, or head to the Mystic Java and Marketplace in the Student Union for a refreshing beverage and fueling meal!
Get Involved: Take advantage of the mandatory meetings and welcome week activities. They're a great way to meet new people, learn about campus resources and familiarize yourself with the campus.
