BSC targets students who delayed college with 8-week course option

Students who delayed their studies because of COVID-19 can enroll in 8-week general education courses being offered by Bismarck State College (BSC) this fall.

BSC’s FlexStart classes run from Oct. 19-Dec. 14 and are offered in a variety of formats including face-to-face, online and hybrid. Dozens of courses are available including Algebra, College Composition, Public Speaking and many more.

According to BSC officials, the late start classes also may appeal to students who stayed home because their college canceled in-person classes.

“BSC is here to help any student who might benefit from classes that start later and finish faster than the regular semester classes,” said Dan Leingang, vice president for academic affairs. “That includes not only current college students whose situations have changed, but those who want to add an additional class to their schedule, adults looking for a career change and even home-schooled high school students.”

“By offering FlexStart classes, we can help students save money and stay on track with their educational goals.”

BSC’s tuition is one of the lowest in the state at $160.54/credit.

“Our Flex Start classes are a great way to get started or back into pursuing a degree,” says Karen Erickson, Dean of Enrollment Services.  “Our courses transfer easily to other colleges and our tuition is one of the lowest in the state. Applying is easy at BSC, too.”
