You will use Campus Connection for registration, financial aid awards and more. Help sheets on many of the features of Campus Connection are available.

Student Financial Obligation Agreement
Prior to registration each semester you will need to accept the Student Financial Obligation Agreement (FOA) hold. This is an understanding on the part of the student, the legal obligation to pay charges assessed to their Student Account. Once this is accepted you can register for courses.

Computer Requirements
You must have access to a Windows PC or Apple Macintosh. Your computer should have at least: 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 or Mac OS 10.5, or higher. Chromebooks, tablets, and/or iPads will not allow you to satisfactorily access course content. Relying on a tablet or other non-laptop or desktop device to access course content may negatively impact your grade. Courses within the Nuclear Power Technology program have additional computer requirements, listed under "other information" below.

Registration
Step by step directions on how to register for classes can be found here. When searching for courses with an “ENRT” prefix you will search using "Energy Technology."
 

Participation
Participation is required within the first two days in each course in which you are enrolled. You can be dropped for non-attendance based on the Dates & Deadlines Schedule.

BSC Email
After you register, you will need to set up your BSC email. Instructions are found here. All communication from BSC and your instructors will be sent only to this email address. Check it often!

Online Course Access
Online course access to Blackboard is located at the top of the BSC Homepage at BSC Online using the same username and password used for the Campus Connection system. Courses are accessible on the day they start.

Textbooks
Textbooks can be ordered online through the BSC Bookstore. You will input your class information and it will show what books/materials are required for each course. Order early when possible to allow for shipping time. Failure to secure your textbook prior to the beginning of class may result in missed lessons and will negatively impact your grade.
 

Student Privacy
If your employer or anyone else (family member, spouse) will need to access your records, you must submit a FERPA information release form.

Continuous Enrollment
If you do not enroll in at least one course each fall and spring semester you are considered to have a break in enrollment. When you want to return to the college after a break in enrollment you will need to reapply and you will be required to follow the plan in effect at the time you return. This could result in additional required coursework.

Nuclear Power Technology Requirements
Courses within the BSC Nuclear Power Technology require the use of a webcam. The Nuclear Power Technology grading policy requires quiz and exam assessments to be recorded via webcam and the Yuja website. Quizzes and exams submitted without a recording will not be accepted for grading.

Practical Applications Course (PWRP/PROP/PROD/WATR)
One component of the online coursework for students in Power Plant Technology, Process Plant Technology, Petroleum Production Technology, and Water & Wastewater Technology is the completion of a “Practical Applications” (competency) workbook. To complete the workbook, job shadowing or “hands-on” lab activities must be completed at an energy site or in the NECE lab on the campus of BSC. This course is to ensure program graduates have the competencies needed when working at an energy site. Students hoping to go to an energy site (job shadowing) to complete the course and required competency workbook will need to visit with the instructor within the first week of their last semester. Be advised: 80 hours is the typical amount of time required to complete the job shadowing at an energy site or facility. You may have to use vacation if you are currently employed. If you are currently employed in the industry, this requirement may be able to be satisfied at your place of employment. Visit with your advisor to discuss this option.

Lab Requirements (ICTL)
The second year of the ICTL program has lab requirements that cannot be completed online. Students pursuing an Associate Degree in Instrumentation & Control Technology can complete their required labs on the BSC campus in Bismarck, North Dakota during a four-week long block during the summer semester, beginning in late May. Students who work in the industry and have access to instrumentation equipment may be able to complete the required labs remotely. Contact your advisor to discuss this option.

Students choosing not to complete the ICTL lab requirements are eligible to earn a certificate in Instrumentation & Control Technology.

This program begins in the fall semester only.

Lab Requirements (ESRE)
The ESRE online degree requires lab activities to be completed on the BSC campus in Bismarck, North Dakota. Students are required to complete ESRE 228 – Energy Technician Applications & Troubleshooting during the spring semester of the first year of the program. The on-campus lab activities for this course are typically scheduled for one week, usually during spring break (mid-March). It may be possible to complete these requirements remotely if you work with the appropriate equipment in the industry or armed forces. Visit with your advisor to discuss this option.
